Karen Wilson:
Karen grew
up skiing Waterville Valley and Loon Mountain. Her racing
experience includes: Nashoba Valley Ski Team 1999-2001,
Groton-Dunstable HS Ski Team 2000-2004, LRT 2002-4. Karen is
a dedicated and enthusiastic coach, and the kids she coaches
love her enthusiasm. Karen provides the all-important
technical racing model for the Rutriders to follow while
bombing all over the mountain. She is still young enough to
get into the dynamic positions that the kids need to model
their skiing after. Karen is a full-time student at
Northeastern in an engineering curriculum. She sets a
perfect example for the kids to follow and to aspire, in
that one can be both a great at academics and athletics at
the same time. Karen makes no secret that she loves to
coach, and makes the time to be there for her kids in the
program. kwilson.ski@gmail.com |

Mike Gallagher:
Mike Gallagher is a USSA certified ski coach. He currently
coaches full time for the Holderness school team during the
week, and for LRT on the weekends and holidays. He is a
full-time dedicated ski coach, whose athletes know that he
would willingly throw himself in front of a bus if it would
help his kids' performance. Mike was a nationally ranked
member of the Green Mountain College ski racing team for 4
years, a member of the all conference team for two years,
and a member of the podium team at the collegiate nationals.
He has been a part of LRT all the way from Rutriders through
his final year in High School. Mike is one of the strongest
technical skiers on the LRT coaching staff, and provides

Michael Defeo:
Mike
currently resides in New Hampshire with his wife Chantal and
their three children (Charlie - JIII, Megan - JV & Lauren -
JV). Many years ago, Mike lived and coached in Vail,
CO, where he attained his PSIA level III certification (he
is preparing for the Eastern - PSIA Demo Team exam). Mike
hopes his affiliation with the club will allow him to build
meaningful relationships, experiences and memories with the
athletes at the club, so that skiing becomes a "life
sport" for these young people, too. Michael.DeFeo@pioneerinvestments.com |
 |
Mike Regan:
Mike was a long time instructor at Loon. In addition to his
PSIA background Mike is a USSA Level 100 coach. Mike is
parent who joined the coaching ranks when his children were
Rut Riders. He has three children in the program (Catherine
J4; Willy J4, and Andy J5). Since this is Mike's sixth year
with the Rut Riders he has coached many of the younger
athletes in the program. LRT is now reaping the benefits of
his involvement, with a very strong contingent of young
athletes now coming up through the ranks in the program.
Mike's stated goal when working with young athletes is for
them to have fun, be versatile and to develop a love for the
sport of skiing. "Nothing beats skiing on a nice day." Mike

Jeffrey
Clermont:
Jeffrey is the "pied piper" of the LRT coaching staff, and
can often be spotted by the endless string of kids (or
coaches) trailing in his wake. Jeff is a seasoned ski racer,
who brings a very real-world perspective to the art of
enjoying the sport. Jeff skied competitively in High School
at Cardigan Mtn. & White Mtn. Prep Schools. In addition,
Jeff taught in the Loon Mountain Adaptive Program for 6
years. Jeff enjoys working with young racers to develop
their technical skills while having fun. Jeff's athletes
consistently outperform their beginning of the season
goals. In his "other" life, Jeff is the General Manager of
the Beacon Resort in Lincoln, NH.

Neil Faigel:
Neil is an experienced ski coach who has been with LRT for
many years, certainly more years than we should say here. He
is a former FIS level racer, and is presently a
national-level cycling competitor. Neil's goal is to teach a
love of skiing and to ensure the athletes are having fun
while learning the basic skills to improve their skiing. In
addition to his competitive racing background, Neil is an
exceptional free skier, with other-worldly endurance. to
improve their skiing.

Russ Spencer:
Russ is the head
J3's coach. A two-time Junior Olympian, Russ brings a wealth
of experience in ski racing to LRT's athletes. Most
importantly, he knows how to communicate it. He is as
passionate about learning as he is passionate about winning
in a field of fair play. Russ attended and competed for
WVBBTS Academy in Waterville prior to attending the
University of Vermont. He is an extremely dedicated coach,
who coaches elite-level junior lacrosse in Massachusetts
when he's not flexing his considerable technical expertise
and motivational skills. Russ is a perfect example of a
communicator/motivator type, and is one of several dedicated
parents who, in addition to their coaching duties, also have
children who are a part of LRT. In addition to his coaching
skills, Russ is arguably the foremost expert in the club on
ski preparation. He always seems to have the secret sauce
that no one else can get.

Garr Corcoran:
LRT is fortunate
to have Garr Corcoran as it's head J1 & J2's coach. Garr has
perhaps more experience coaching in New Hampshire than
anyone else on the staff. He is knowlegable, extremely
personable, and is able to work with athletes at any skill
level, from rank beginner to high-level FIS. During the
summer months Garr is the director of the Squam Lakes
Association sailing program, enabling Garr to hone his
skills as a sports educator year-round.

 |
Jim O'Donnell ("OD"):
Jim's hometown is
Hingham, MA, and he now hails from Methuen, MA. Jim has been
teaching skiing since he was 17 years old, and is arguably
one of LRT's most knowledgeable technicians of the sport.
Jim brings to the table a strong PSIA background; he is
level 3 certified, in addition to his USSA education; in
which he is working toward level 2 certified. Jim is
formally trained in Civil Engineering, and claims that he'll
use "any equipment that is free." Jim's mission statement is
to "Make good skiers great with a life long passion for the
sport." Amen.
